As a not-for-profit hospital, Transylvania Regional Hospital is committed to giving back to the community to help those who are uninsured or underinsured as well as providing health education and benefits for the well being of the entire community. We know that by giving back—in both good times and bad—we help promote a healthier community and build a stronger economy for us all!
We are proud to say that our contributions to the community are worth $6 million annually!
Here are just a few of our annual contributions to the residents and organizations in our area:
- More than $1.5 million in charity care for 2,415 people
- $2.4 million in care for 4,283 people through non-collectible services
- $1.5 million is provided for government-sponsored healthcare including
indigent-care programs - $600,000 is provided for community benefit programs
- Staff and executive participation with community organizations such as United Way, March of Dimes, Chamber of Commerce, Communities in Schools, Relay for Life, the Transylvania County School System, Brevard College, The Free Clinic and others.
- More than 1,000 community members annually attend free or low-cost educational programs held at the hospital each month. Programs feature timely health topics, presented by physicians, nurses, nurse educators, dietitians and other clinical professionals.
