Quality Report Card: Acute Myocardial Infarction
What does a measurement about the acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) tell me? Heart Attack, also called Acute Myocardial Infarction, is a life-threatening event that can happen when not enough oxygen reaches the heart. When a heart attack occurs, quick use of aspirin and other treatments can reduce damage to the heart and reduce the chance of death. TRH is a critical part of the life-saving team, and provides emergency stabilization for heart attack patients before they are transferred to regional heart centers. Our emergency care of patients is not included in these measures. Instead, these measures are about patients who were admitted to our hospital for heart attack care (a rare event). Our numbers are small in this area, so sometimes we do not have a large enough sample for meaningful statistical comparisons. However, because the measures are available, we chose to share them on this site.
